This past weekend at the 1A state championship football game, the 1999 JCHS championship football team was recognized. It was the 25 anniversary of their championship. The National Honor Society inductions will be held on November 19, 2024, at 11:20 a.m.

Art students are in full swing of 3-D projects. Both sculpture and textile arts. 6th grade is working on 'letter sculptures' using paper maché. JH and HS art students are in the process of learning about and weaving one coil yarn baskets.

Today chemistry did a Le Chatelier's Principle Lab - using pH they could seesaw between an acid and a base with 2 different indicatory solutions.

Today A&P were able to dissect sheep brains to locate anatomical parts of the brain and to feel the texture and consistency of a brain. Comparisons of a sheep brain and a human brain were made and it was noticed that there is a difference in a bipedal mammal vs a quadruped mammal.

The Blue Bottle Lab is always a favorite of all the Chemistry Labs - the is the most classic oxidation-reduction lab.

Photography students are learning about natural lighting vs. studio lighting. Today was a great chance for them to take advantage of the overcast sky as they practiced some of their skills. The snow was a bonus and made for lots of fun and laughter... and maybe some frozen fingers too!

6th grade art spent October learning about two styles of art, Notan art - a Japanese style of art that balances light and dark and uses a mirror image to look at the shapes and patterns in an image. Batik art - an Indonesian style of art that uses a wax resist dying technique. Students used crayon as the wax resist and painted over with a black paint wash.

Joseph City Elementary School will be operating with normal hours for November 6th, 2024.
